Mixed experience.

Our tour guide (Fernando) was excellent. We learned a lot about the city and its history. San Jose is a very traditional and colorful city; we felt very safe to walk around, and the people were very friendly. The market was one of the best activities; we were able to buy handicrafts and enjoy watching people go about their daily activities. Highly recommended.

Discovering the heart of San José through the eyes of the soul

Taking the city tour with Summer Travel was like seeing San José through new eyes: we didn't just walk through the streets and buildings, but we also felt the city's living essence. From the very first moment, the guide made us feel part of something special. It wasn't just information; it was passion for its culture, its history, and every corner we discovered. I loved walking along San José Boulevard, visiting the local markets, seeing the National Theater, and learning about the contrasts that make this city unique. The best part was connecting with the locals—seeing how they live, how they smile, how they greet you with a warmth that makes you feel at home. I was also surprised by how well-organized everything was. The pace of the tour was perfect, balancing historical moments with time to enjoy the atmosphere, take photos, or simply observe the daily life of the Ticos. And of course, I can't forget to mention the break to try authentic Costa Rican coffee and some typical snacks at the San José Market—what flavors so full of identity! It's incredible how they manage to convey so much in something so simple. This tour didn't just show me a city; it made me feel part of it. Thanks to Summer Travel for an experience I'll remember fondly.

Beautiful, big city!

We’ve flown into San José several times over the past couple of years, but we had never really taken the time to explore the city. This time, with an extra day, we decided to do a city tour — and it was a great surprise! We learned that San José has over a million residents — it’s much bigger than we expected! The city is surrounded by several suburbs, which makes it even more expansive and interesting. We did the tour on a weekend, and it was pretty busy, with lots of activity in the streets and public squares. If I were to do it again, I’d probably choose a weekday to enjoy it at a more relaxed pace. Still, it was a great experience that showed us a completely different side of Costa Rica — one that’s very different from the beaches or mountain areas. Highly recommended if you have a few extra hours in the capital!
