Your adventure begins early with a departure from San José at 6:00 AM, heading toward the Caribbean lowlands. Enjoy a scenic drive through lush landscapes before arriving at the boat dock, where you’ll board a covered boat for an exciting ride along the picturesque Tortuguero canals. As we navigate through this rich ecosystem, you'll have the chance to spot wildlife such as crocodiles, turtles, sloths, colorful birds, and other incredible species that thrive in the tropical rainforest.
Upon arrival at the hotel around midday, you'll enjoy a welcome cocktail and a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Sea Turtle Conservation Center, where you’ll learn about the essential efforts to protect Green and Leatherback turtles—the world’s largest sea turtle species. Tortuguero has been a key conservation site since 1975, playing a vital role in the preservation of these endangered animals.
In the evening, you'll have free time to relax at the lodge, enjoy the hotel facilities, or take an optional night tour (seasonal) to observe turtles nesting on the beach.
After an early breakfast, we’ll set out to explore the breathtaking Tortuguero National Park on a guided boat tour through its intricate network of canals. This is the perfect opportunity to experience the park’s extraordinary biodiversity up close—keep your camera ready for sightings of monkeys, iguanas, river otters, a variety of tropical birds, and perhaps even manatees.
Following the tour, you’ll have time to relax and enjoy the lodge facilities before we begin our journey back to San José. We’ll retrace our route by boat and bus, allowing you to soak in the last views of Costa Rica’s lush landscapes.
Arrival back in San José is estimated at 5:00 PM, leaving you with the rest of the evening free to unwind after an unforgettable adventure.
